In this episode of FilmingLife®: The Podcast for Photographers & Filmmakers, Courtney, Allison & Kylie sit down to discuss the August 2020 run of the 9 Day Mini Keepsake Film Challenge and announce the giveaway winners.
We had around 272 participants in the keepsake challenge, not including our existing members of the FilmingLife® Academy who also took part. And of that amount we had around 80 people submit films to us within the time frame we set to enter our giveaway. All content was hosted inside the FilmingLife® Academy, and the participants all got access during the Challenge to the FilmingLife® Network which is really the heartbeat of the Academy. It’s where we lift each other up and support each other along the way.
We also reached out to our FilmingLifers to form a team of moderators for the Challenge to make sure that questions got answered quickly and encouragement was provided to those who needed it! Huge shout out to this incredibly supportive team of FilmingLifers who helped us out with the Challenge: Jill Seamer, Katrina Williams, Maureen Petru, Nicole Sanchez, Helene Stype, Paige Gotts, and Danielle Blewitt. We couldn’t have done it without you all!
This Keepsake Challenge we were blown away by the quality of the films everyone was producing, especially for those who had never switched their camera over to video before. It made choosing a winner incredibly hard, but alas we had to choose. And so, without further ado…

"This was a lesson in going with the flow. I had all these grand ideas of leaving our apartment to film my kids somewhere safe and beautiful with great light but it just wasn't happening. Instead I decided it would be easier to film in our space where where my kids could just do their own thing. I'm glad I went this route as I now have this sweet little film that will remind them of their home and what it was like for us during the pandemic. " - Jolene Cody

The way Jolene filmed a day at home with the kids was beautiful, her use of light & filmmaking techniques was fantastic, and she connected us to the story in every way possible.
