Questions to Guide
Your Self-Evaluation

Write a Reflective Statement about a recent film you’ve shot, answering the following questions:

  1. What steps did you take to prep for the session in advance? What information did you provide to the client? How did you plan the location and any other details about the session?

  2. How did you approach the beginning of the session? What did you start filming first? 

  3. What did you do next?

  4. Why did you choose that (camera position, focal length, aperture setting, etc)?

  5. What problems did you come across?

  6. How did you solve those problems?

  7. Were there any problems you couldn’t solve?

  8. What worked well during the session and why?

  9. What didn’t work well and why?

  10. What did you learn from this session that you can apply to the next?

  11. How did you approach the edit for the film?

  12. Why did you choose the music?

  13. What problems did you come across?

  14. How did you solve those problems?

  15. Were there any problems you couldn’t solve?

  16. What footage worked well for the edit and why?

  17. What didn’t work well and why?

  18. What did you learn from working with this footage that you can apply to the way you shoot your next session?
