With a vibrant community of students & alumni we think the FilmingLife Academy is the BEST place to learn how to switch your camera to video and start filming your story today.

Ever since we launched the FilmingLife Academy in April 2018, you’ve been asking for an in-person retreat. Now, come October 2019 in Australia, your retreat dreams will come true. We’re taking the education & community you’ve come to love in the Academy one step further and today applications open for our very first in-person FilmingLife Academy retreat.

What is FilmingLife | The Retreat?

FilmingLife The Retreat will be 4 days of intensive, hands-on learning, where you’ll walk away with the knowledge you need to create the kinds of films YOU want to create, the community support to help cheer you on, and the confidence to make it into a PROFITABLE business.

FilmingLife Academy founder Co urtney Holmes will be joined by Academy Manager Allison Redmon at Magenta Shores on the NSW central coast to teach you everything they know via in-the-field filming sessions and educational discussions on everything from client-prep through to marketing & pricing. With goal-setting exercises and hands-on shooting & editing time, plus personal critiques from Courtney & Allison, you’ll walk away with a solid plan for your own business.

In addition to the hands-on learning & business education, Kylie Purtell, Academy educator, will be there to take you through some creative exercises to help get those artistic juices flowing and help you incorporate a little creative magic in to every shoot you do.

Our aim with the FilmingLife retreat is not only to give you some amazing education but to give you the opportunity to spend time with the Academy educators and build deeper relationships with people who share your passion for family-filmmaking, and also understand the challenges & joys of running your own photography & filmmaking business.
