We had around 250 participants in the keepsake challenge, not including our existing members of the FilmingLife® Academy who also took part. And of that amount we had 100 people submit films to us within the time frame we set to enter our giveaway. This Challenge was run a little differently than previous ones. All content was hosted inside the FilmingLife® Academy, and the participants all got access during the Challenge to the FilmingLife® Network which is really the heartbeat of the Academy. It’s where we lift each other up and support each other along the way.
We also reached out to our FilmingLifers to form a team of moderators for the Challenge to make sure that questions got answered quickly and encouragement was provided to those who needed it! Huge shout out to this incredibly supportive team of FilmingLifers who helped us out with the Challenge: Jill Seamer, Leslie Plesser, Helene Stype, Beth Flick, Kim Hilliard, Paige Gotts, and Danielle Blewitt. We couldn’t have done it without you all!
This Keepsake Challenge was unique, and to be honest probably timed perfectly for a lot of people. Many of us are staying home to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and crafting a film was exactly the creative push we needed to help us see the beauty of this time in our lives. For us, making films is our way of remembering.
Two of our team members, Kylie Purtell and Jill Seamer both made films during this Challenge which we love and is an example of the passion that our team members have not just for helping out other filmmakers but for creating films ourselves.

Alyssa Brown - Alyssa Kay Photography
About the Film:
"Residents of Jupiter Farms are setting out dozens of homemade hearts throughout their community to show support for workers on the frontline of the pandemic, rally solidarity and provide fun for kids." - Alyssa Brown
Alyssa’s film demonstrates the heart of what this Challenge is all about. We love the way she combined the footage of her children drawing with chalk on the driveway, with footage of the hearts on fences and signs of support for frontline workers as she drove around her community. Her use of light and colours conveys a feeling of hope and unity, and her song choice makes you feel connected to her message. In addition to the beautiful film she’s created, she also shared her behind the scenes with us on social media so many times which we loved being part of! Congratulations Alyssa! We can’t wait to have you join us in the FilmingLife® Academy and see your growth over the next 6 months as a filmmaker.
Second Prize Winners - Featured Films
Prize: 3 month membership to the FilmingLife® Academy valued at $225
Dana Whitley
We loved Dana’s film for the simplicity of it, and the way she created an intimate personal portrait of each child and her family.
Rob Campbell - Ameris Photography
We love the way Rob's film evokes emotion. He uses some really beautiful compositions, and does a beautiful job of capturing the way it feels for these kids to all hang out together in nature.
