SHOWCASE: "On the Go" Film Projects | FilmingLife® ArtHouse
“The best camera is the one you have with you"
The July/August theme for our ArtHouse Film Project was led by FilmingLife® Educator Kylie Purtell and was all about filmmaking ON THE GO.
We’re true believers that the best camer you have is the one you have with you, and for this theme we asked our members to embrace filmmaking using the cameras we always have on us, our phones!
We also asked them to consider using an action cam like the GoPro to capture short films using a camera they don’t usually use and find creative ways to capture & edit their footage with these compact cameras.
All ArtHouse themes are broken in to 2 levels. For the ON THE GO theme the levels were defined as follows -
For Level One ON THE GO films we asked our members to create a film that combines 'big' camera footage with footage shot on a GoPro or Phone.
For Level Two ON THE GO films we asked members to create a film using only a GoPro, action cam or Phone.
As always the films that were submitted & created by our members were just amazing, and we’re so pleased to present them to you today…
The Educator’s Choice Award has been chosen by the Lead Educator of the film project ON THE GO, FilmingLife® Educator Kylie Purtell, as those that fully embody the spirit of the FilmingLife® ArtHouse, and are noted for their storytelling, creativity and unique interpretation of the theme.
Krista Hall
What Kylie said about Krista’s film -
”Krista did a great job with this film, the footage looks beautiful and the colour grading and choice of music suited the film perfectly. I really loved the attention to detail and how Krista edited to the music to really drive home the feeling.”

Elise Cook
What Kylie said about Elise’s film -
”Elise shot the footage for this film back in 2019 on an iPhone 7 and was motivated by the theme to create something with the footage that had been living on her phone. It’s a really beautiful example of how we can work with old footage to create something meaningful and pull together all the old clips we have floating around. I really love how Elise edited this, the way she used colour and overlays and the music choice was just right as well. Well done, Elise”
