A note from The Filmmaker’s Retreat:

We want to thank everyone who has reached out to us about the Filmmaker’s Retreat which was originally scheduled for September this year. Sadly we’ve had to make the incredibly difficult decision to cancel the retreat this year, due to the covid 19 crisis. We thought about this for such a long time and in the end we just decided that it wasn’t worth the risk of endangering our attendees to try and proceed with the event this year. This isn’t the end though, we’ve got big plans for the retreat going forward and we’ve already started making plans for 2021! If you’d like to join us, click here to join our waitlist and we’ll keep you in the loop when tickets are available for purchase.

Academy Course Updates.png

I've always updated content inside the FilmingLife® Academy as needed, but this year I've decided to go all in and replace all existing tutorials with new ones. Why? Because my teaching style and work have evolved, software has changed, and after a few years of updating tutorials one by one, I feel like now is the time for a complete overhaul. In addition to updating the Intro to Filmmaking Course, I've got two brand new behind the scenes video tutorials from recent family film sessions which will make up the bulk of a new Filming Families Course that will be all about working with families. I'll be taking you through each session with a BTS video, followed by a full breakdown of the edit, explaining my thought process and choices along the way. You can see one of the films below. The new courses and content will be released into the Academy over the next two months, which means now is a GREAT time to become a member.

In March and April, our #6filmchallenge to the Filminglife® Academy members was to create a 'Day-In-The-Life' (DITL) Film; a film that focuses on the everyday moments of their daily lives.

To up the challenge, we asked each participant to film in a VERTICAL orientation, flipping their camera away from the standard horizontal orientation.

For many, this was a new skill both in shooting and in editing! Some chose to use their DSLR cameras, some chose to use their mobile devices, and some combined both devices to create their film.

Our next #6filmchallenge theme is MOTHERHOOD. Join us for the challenge and get $10 off your monthly membership when you join with code MOTHERHOOD before 1 June 2020.
