SHOWCASE: "Generations" | FilmingLife® ArtHouse
"We all carry inside us people who came before us".
-Liam Callanan
The March/April ArtHouse Film Project theme was led by Allison Redmon and was centered around the theme GENERATIONS.
Allison challenged our members to explore the idea of Generations by crafting a film that focused on a person of a different generation to themselves.
Members were encouraged to expand their storytelling and interviewing skills, honing in on the most meaningful moments that have made up their subjects lives.
The theme was broken down into two levels:
Level One: Create a film that includes multiple generations from the same family doing an activity together.
Level Two: Create an interview style film for someone of any generation. Include footage of old photographs and memorabilia, and use the interview answers to build a story about that person's life.
We are teary eyed with the heartfelt storytelling that our Members have utilized and showcased in their film project submissions, and it’s our absolute honour to present a Showcase of these wonderful films today.
The Educator’s Choice Awards have been chosen by the Lead Educator of the film project GENERATIONS, Allison Redmon, as those that fully embody the spirit of the FilmingLife® ArtHouse, and are noted for their storytelling, creativity and unique interpretation of the theme.

What Allison said about Amy’s film -
”Amy's films have a way of making you deeply feel her subjects. When you watch and it's almost as if you are in the room with them, snuggled in and listening to the story of their lives. This legacy film about her own mother will make you tear up because it's profoundly beautiful in the way she has captured the love between her mother and the next generation. I can't way enough about how much I love this!”

Tara Donoghue | Tara Donoghue Photography
What Allison said about Tara’s film -
”From the first moment I pressed play on Tara's film I knew this film was truly something special. Hearing the actual recording of her ancestors singing voice, seeing the old photos and hearing the stories of generations past, Tara masterfully edits her family history on their land in a way that made me teary. It's a powerful reminder to record our family members, their voices, their pictures, their thoughts and to keep them alive in our own storytelling.”

Elise Cook | Elise Cook Photography
What Allison said about Elise’s film -
”Sometimes the simplest of ideas are the best and I adore how Elise chose the theme of 'two boys and two girls' to build her film and interview with her mother. Focusing in on the similarities between the generations is so beautifully simple but had me smiling through the entire film.”
